Vin & Sprit (V & S Vin & Sprit AB, the parent company of V & S Group, represented in Germany by the V & S GmbH Germany ) is a Swedish spirits manufacturer Pernod Ricard in the Group with headquarters in Stockholm. Absolut Vodka is the most important and most well-known brand of V & S Group.
The company was founded in 1917 and belonged to 23 July 2008 100 % by the Swedish state. The company is one of the largest producer of spirits in Europe and one of the world's ten largest companies in the alcohol industry. V & S has offices in Sweden, seven other European countries and the USA and Hong Kong. The company employs approximately 2,500 employees (2006). The products are sold in 125 countries. In 2006, the company continued to SEK 10.3 billion and profit after tax amounted to SEK 1.6 billion. General is Bengt Baron.
In December 2006, the Swedish government announced that she wanted to share Vin & sell in the context of privatization of state-owned enterprises of fuel. The Swedish government wants to take from 3.8 to 4.9 billion euros. Nature and extent of the sale were not disclosed. In March 2007, the company Bacardi declared his interest in a takeover of the Swedish spirits manufacturer. This should have a value of 4.3 billion euros, according to market experts. On 1 April 2008 it was announced that the Swedish government has agreed with the French spirits group Pernod Ricard to sell his shares in V & S for a price of 5.6 billion euros in these.
