Vsevolod Bobrov

Vsevolod Mikhailovich Bobrow (Russian Всеволод Михайлович Бобров; born December 1, 1922 in Morshansk, Russian SFSR, † July 1, 1979 in Moscow, Russian SFSR ) was a Soviet athlete who played both football, bandy and ice hockey.

Career

During the Second World War he was in the Red Army. In 1945, he began his football career at CSKA Moscow. Until 1953, he played for ZDKA, MRP Moscow and Spartak Moscow and won three times the Soviet Championship. During this period he scored 97 goals in just 116 games. He led the league top scorer in 1945 ( 24) and 1947 (14). In 1945 he was a guest player at Dynamo Moscow when they were in the UK on tour. Here he was able to achieve six goals against teams like Chelsea, Arsenal and Glasgow Rangers.

Five times he was prepared for the Soviet national football team and played at the Summer Olympics in 1952.

In 1946 he also started with ice hockey. This sport he ran until 1957, and although football was his first sport, he was much more successful in hockey. In the Soviet championships, won his team seven times, he scored 254 goals in just 130 games.

For the Soviet national ice hockey team, he played at the Olympic Winter Games in 1956 and was one of the few athletes who participated in both the Summer and in the Winter Games.

He and his team won the gold medal and the World Ice Hockey Championships in 1954 and 1956. Overall, he scored 89 goals in 59 games for his country.

He was named to an exclusive list of players of Russian hockey, the " Bobrow Club". All players recorded there have achieved at least 250 goals in her career.

Bobrow, who was player-manager of WWS Moscow, coached by his playing days different teams, both in football and in hockey area. Later he became the coach of the Soviet national ice hockey team at the Summit Series in 1972 and led them by the Ice Hockey World Championships in 1974 and 1975.

In 1948 he was honored with induction into the Russian and Soviet Hockey Hall of Fame and in 1997 with the entry into the IIHF Hall of Fame.
