VTB, formerly known as Vneschtorgbank (Russian ВТБ or Внешторгбанк to German: Foreign Trade Bank ), is Russia's largest bank. It is located about 75.5 % state-owned. The company is represented in the stock index RTS index, and is headquartered in St. Petersburg, but operates from Moscow and operates as a universal bank. Important representative offices in Paris, Frankfurt and Vienna.

History

1990, the Bank was founded mainly as a private limited company owned by the state. Since 1998, the Bank is integrated into the public sector and operates as a de facto state-owned foreign trade and investment bank. Since August 2005, the Bank has formed strong branch network for consumers in Russia through acquisitions.

Special activities

In July 2006, the Bank took over the lease for 600 new Mercedes buses for the Moscow municipal transport company MosTransAwto. In August 2006 it was announced that the bank is to perform the lease financing of up to 16 Airbus 320-200 aircraft for Russian airlines (see Pulkovo Airlines).

At the same time, the bank world-wide interest aroused by the acquisition of 5.02 % of the shares of Airbus parent company EADS. On 13 September 2006 reported the daily newspaper "Die Welt" that EADS had this confirmed the day before. The share package of the European Aeronautic Defence and Space Company (EADS), the parent company of aircraft manufacturer Airbus, had cost about 781 million euros, reported the Moscow business newspaper Vedomosti. "The World " also reported that Russia long-term results in the assumption of the blocking minority stake in EADS into consideration. Sergei Prikhodko, a senior adviser to President Putin, said that if one day share common interests with EADS firmly stood, the Russian side would insist on a higher participation. The price of EADS shares rose after the statements and listed in the course of trading on the Paris Bourse at 23.55 euros - an increase by almost five percent. The Vneshtorgbank have used to start the fall in prices, which hit the EADS papers in recent months because of internal strife and problems in the construction of the giant aircraft A380. On November 6, 2006, reported "The world " that the proportion should be now increased to about 7%.

On December 27, 2007, VTB announced that it has sold its stake in EADS to the State Vnesheconombank.

For their foreign trade business, the Bank has offices in London, Paris, Zurich, Limassol (Cyprus), Vienna, Frankfurt, Luxembourg, Kiev ( Ukraine), Tbilisi (Georgia) and Yerevan (Armenia ), Milan (Italy ), Beijing ( China ), Delhi (India) and Minsk ( Belarus ). For retail banking, the Bank has the daughter of VTB 24 built on the basis of acquired in 2005 Gutabank. Revenue earnings

Revenue increased from 2004 of U.S. $ 17.8 billion, to $ 36.7 billion ( 2005). Net income increased by U.S. $ 208 million (2004) to U.S. $ 511 ( 2005). The Interim Report for the first quarter of 2006 ( published August 2006) is already showing a profit of U.S. $ 334 million. The rating agencies Moody 's, Standard & Poor 's (S & P ) and Fitch rate the VTB highest among all Russian financial institutions.
