VTech is the name of the Video Technology Ltd.. , A computer company from Hong Kong. VTech produces cordless phones or related equipment, easy computer systems and electronic learning toy for children. VTech is the most famous provider of educational computers for kids.

History

The company was founded in 1976.

In the 1980s and early 1990s, VTech also produced personal computer, including, among others IBM compatible PC and the laser were 128. The Laser 128 was the only fully legal clone of the Apple IIc computer. Apple Computer had tried VTech legal action to ban the production of the laser 128, but since the device was developed with the reverse engineering process without violating the copyright of Apple, it could be resold.

VTech introduced until the release of the Intel 80486 processor Home computer, and sold it under the brand names VTech, Laser, and Leading Technology.

In 2010, VTech has been in the U.S. for the first time a specially designed for children in preschool and primary school age reader for e-books - on the market - the V.Reader.

In March 2011, VTech employed approximately 32,300 people worldwide.
