VTSIOM

The VTsIOM (Russian Всероссийский центр изучения общественного мнения, Wserossijski centr isutschenija obschtschestwennowo mnenija; translates All-Russian Center of Public Opinion Research or short -Russian public opinion research center ) is a state-owned Russian public opinion research institute in Moscow.

The market- leading institute published a number of studies from the political, social and consumer applications for domestic and foreign clients.

History

It was founded in 1987 as the first research institute of the Soviet Union as Wsesojusny centr isutschenija obschtschestwennowo mnenija ( All-Union Research Center opinion ). In 2003, the Institute's independence was restricted and was created as an offshoot of the Levada center of the former leader.

The VTsIOM has been conducted by:

  • Yuri Levada (1992-2003)
  • Valery Fyodorov (since 2003)
