VTun

In VTun is a network application to virtual tunnel (VPN ) using TCP / IP networks to build. VTun supports the Internet Protocol ( IP), Point-to- Point Protocol (PPP) and SLIP protocol. In addition VTun has under Linux-based systems via an interface to the tunnel driver Tun / Tap, which as of version 2.4 is already in the kernel as standard. Originally came the software from Maxim Krasnyansky and is now maintained by Bishop Clark.

Joining techniques

VTun creates a connection between two computers on the basis of a point-to- point connection over which all traffic is handled. A VTun client initiates a connection via TCP and authenticates currently with his data. If the user has been accepted by VTun server, the connection is allowed and the interfaces in Linux are set up according to the configuration. For the data transmission of the UDP tunnel can be chosen, however, runs on the authentication set in the configuration from the TCP port.

The software allows the creation of tunnels for routing and bridging purposes.

Authentication

VTun uses for client authentication only a " private shared key " ( PSK).

SSL -free version

VTun can be translated in the source code without SSL support and is related as a pre-built binaries. Once an SSL -free version is used, both endpoints are encrypted with an easy -to-crack XOR operation. This may represent exciting problem for one or the other a concern, but it is up to you, to its source code according to his needs translate.
