Vuibroye

Vuibroye was until 31 December 2011, a municipality in the district of Lavaux-Oron in the canton of Vaud in Switzerland. On January 1, 2012, it merged with Oron.

Geography

Vuibroye is located on 637 m above sea level. M., 1.5 km west of Oron- la -Ville and 14 km east-northeast of the canton capital Lausanne ( straight line ). The scattered settlement community extends in the Haute- Broye slightly increased on the western flank of the Broye, in the eastern marginal zone of Vaud Mittelland.

The area of ​​1.4 km ² large former municipal area includes a portion of the headwaters of the Broye. The area is bounded on the east by the Broye and her right side Bach Grenet, in the south of the main road which connects Oron- la -Ville with Essertes. From the Talniederung Broye the former communal land extending westward to the gently sloping hillside of Vuibroye way up to the adjacent Molassehöhen on which Chantemerle at 720 meters above sea level. M. the highest point of the former municipality is reached. From the former rural community area in 1997 accounted for 6% of settlements, 10 % of forest and woody plants and 84 % to agriculture.

To Vuibroye include the hamlet Crépillau (622 m above sea level. M. ) in Broyetal as well as numerous individual farms.

Population

With 128 inhabitants ( 31 December 2011) Vuibroye one of the smallest former municipalities of the canton of Vaud. Of the 85.8 % inhabitants are French-speaking, 11.7 % in English and 1.7 % German-speaking (as of 2000). The population of Vuibroye amounted in 1900 to 120 inhabitants. Thereafter, through constant migration to 1980 recorded a decrease to 66 inhabitants; Since then, the population grew significantly again.

Economy

Vuibroye was until the second half of the 20th century, mainly coined by farming village. Even today, the crop and livestock farming have an important place in the economic structure of the population. Outside the primary sector, there are very few jobs in the village. In recent decades, Vuibroye has also developed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who work in the surrounding larger towns.

Traffic

The former municipality is located off the major thoroughfares, but by Oron- la -Ville is easily accessible. By Postbus course, which runs from Oron- la- Ville Mézières, Vuibroye is connected to the public transport network.

History

The first documentary mention of the place was already in the year 516 under the name Wibra. Later published numerous other names: Vibris ( the 10th century ), Valbroia, Valbruia, Vaubroia and Walbroia ( the 12th century ), Walbroie ( 1213) and Wobrui ( 1273). The place name means Val de la Broye ( Broyetal ). The emergence of the drawing together of the old name Vibris with Broye is possible.

Since the High Middle Ages Vuibroye belonged to the estate of the Abbey of Saint- Maurice and later to the rule Oron. In the 12th century a noble family de Vuibroye is mentioned. After the conquest of Vaud by Bern Vuibroye came in 1557 to the Bernese bailiff Oron. After the collapse of the ancien régime, the village belonged from 1798 to 1803 during the Helvetic Republic to the canton of Geneva, who came up then with the enactment of the Act of Mediation in the canton of Vaud. 1798 was assigned to the District Oron. Vuibroye does not have its own church; it belongs to the parish Oron- Châtillens.
