Vulcan Materials Company

The Vulcan Materials Company is one of the largest manufacturing business (especially gravel, gravel and sand) of the United States. The company, based in Birmingham, Alabama is listed on the S & P 500. In 2005, it achieved an EBIT of $ 500.1 million on revenue of 2615 million dollars. Vulcan Materials employs approximately 11,000 people worldwide, including around 9,000 in the U.S. (as of 2009 ) worldwide.

It was founded in 1909 as a family business under the name Birmingham Slag Company; after buying several other companies, the company was founded in 1956 merged with the Vulcan Detinning Company of Sewaren, New Jersey and subsequently traded under its current name.
