Vulcanair Canguro

The SIAI Marchetti SF - 600 ( alternatively Canguro ) is a transport aircraft of the Italian manufacturer SIAI - Marchetti. SIAI - Marchetti developed this aircraft in the late 1970s.

History

The first flight of the SF 600 on 30 December 1978. At this time the aircraft had a fixed undercarriage. Only with the third prototype possessed the aircraft for the first time on a retractable landing gear. This prototype had its maiden flight in August 1984.

As of 1987, the SF 600 TP Canguro was offered in series production with both fixed gear as well as with retractable landing gear. The SIAI Marchetti SF - 600 TP Canguro is equipped with two Allison 250 - B17C turboprop engines, each 420 WPS ( 313 kW). The term TP stands for Turbo -Prop.

The maximum cruising speed of 306 km / h at an altitude of 1,500 meters. The duration cruising speed is at 285 km / h At 7,300 m, the SF 600 TP Canguro reaches its maximum altitude. The range with maximum payload is 600 km, while for the transfer range with two each 300 liter external tanks 2250 km are given.

Use

The SIAI Marchetti SF - 600 Canguro was offered for a number of purposes. as

  • Light transport aircraft with a large sliding door for loading and unloading,
  • As a small passenger plane for up to 9 passengers and
  • As Absetzflugzeug for up to 12 skydivers.

Of the 10 of our machines are currently ( September 2011) only four in active use. In addition to a prototype of each is a machine in the service of the Philippine Coast Guard and the Korean engineering firm " PanAsia Engineering". The fourth plane is at the Slovenian " Aviofun " in the service where the registration settles S5 -CAM parachutists. Base is primarily the Graz airport in Austria.
