Vyans-le-Val

Vyans -le- Val is a commune in Haute -Saône in the Franche -Comté.

Geography

Vyans -le- Val is located at an altitude of 353 m above sea level, 3 km south of Héricourt and about 5 km north- northwest of the city of Montbéliard (air line). The village is located in the western part of the Burgundian Gate, northwest of the basin of Montbéliard in a niche on the western edge of the Lizaine Valley.

The area of ​​3.32 km ² municipal area includes a portion in the Burgundian Gate. The central part of the area occupied by the basin of Vyans -le- Val, which opens east to the valley of the Lizaine. However, the church floor is not dropping down in the flood plain. To the west, passes through a 50 to 80 m high ground level to the adjacent plateaus, which are composed of limestone of the Upper Jurassic time. They are used mainly agricultural, but also show larger forest areas. With 463 m Bois is achieved the highest elevation of Vyans -le- Val at the Grand.

Neighboring communities of Vyans -le- Val are Héricourt the north and east, Montbéliard in the south and Laire and Tavey in the West.

History

The village Vyans (formerly Vian wrote ) under stood since 1196 Collegiate Saint- Maimboeuf of Montbéliard. Through a territory and goods Abtausch it passed in 1332 to the Counts of Montbéliard, imputed the Vyans the reign Héricourt. The place was repeatedly ravaged by plague, which claimed in 1578 and 1662 many sacrifices especially in the years. With the annexation of the county of Montbéliard Vyans reached 1793 final in French hands. To avoid confusion with other communities of the same Vyans was officially renamed in 1969 in Vyans -le- Val. Since 2001 Vyans -le- Val is a member of the comprehensive 20 villages municipal association Communauté de communes du Pays d' Héricourt.

Attractions

The Reformed village church of Vyans -le- Val was rebuilt in the 19th century. Additional area attractions include the House La Cure (16th century) and the Fontaine- Lavoir from 1888, which served as well, wash and livestock watering.

Population

With 424 inhabitants ( 2004) Vyans -le- Val is one of the small towns in the Haute- Saône. Once the population has consistently had in the first half of the 20th century in the region of 140 to 170 people, a striking population growth has been recorded since the early 1960s. Since then, the population has nearly tripled.

Economy and infrastructure

Vyans -le- Val was until well into the 20th century a predominantly by agriculture (crops, orchards and livestock ) and forestry embossed village. In addition, there are today some of the local small business enterprises. Meanwhile, the village has also changed into a residential community. Many workers are therefore commuters who do their work in urban Montbéliard and Belfort.

The village has good transport links. It lies on the main road that leads from Montbéliard to Héricourt. The nearest links to the A36 motorway is located at a distance of about 8 km.
