Vyborg castle
The Vyborg Castle is an island castle in the town of Vyborg and in the Karelian Isthmus in Russia. The castle was founded in 1293 by the Swedish regent Torgils Knutsson. Construction began at the time of the third Swedish crusade against Russia on a small island in the innermost corner of the Bay of Vyborg.
Current usage
Today in the interiors of the castle Vyborg a museum about the history of the region ( Wyborgski rayon ) is housed. From the castle tower, St. Olaf Tower, offers a lovely view of the city.
