The language Viemo (ISO 639-3: vig, also vige, Vigue and vigye called ) is a Gursprache and is within the Gur languages , the only surviving representative of the Viemo languages within the Niger -Congo language family.
The language is of a total of 8,000 people in Burkina Faso, spoken in the province Houet, about 40 kilometers southeast of Bobo Dioulasso in the department Karankasso - Vigue.
The speakers of the language are mostly bilingual in French the official language. Previously, however, the Diula had at the Viemo speakers the function of a national language ..
