Vylok

Wylok (Ukrainian Вилок; Wilok Russian, Slovak Vylok, Hungarian Tiszaújlak ) is an urban-type settlement in the Western Ukraine ( Transcarpathian Oblast, Rajon Vynohradiv ) about 17 kilometers southwest of the city Vynohradiv and 21 kilometers southeast of the city Berehove.

The approximately 3400 inhabitants place ( 90 percent Hungarian- ) is in the Transcarpathian lowland on the banks of the Tisza river opposite the Hungarian community Tiszabecs. South of the town there is a border crossing to Hungary.

History

The town was first mentioned in writing in 1304 as Wylak. 1657 he is devastated by the Poles and 1661 by the Tatars. 1910, of the Kingdom of Hungary which is in the county Ung place 3,470 inhabitants, of whom 3,411 Hungary. After the end of World War 1 he came to the newly created Czechoslovakia (as part of the Carpathian Ukraine) and was ceded to the end of the second world war to the USSR. In 1959 the place obtained the status of an urban-type settlement.
