Vynnyky

The city Wynnyky (Ukrainian Винники; Winniki Polish, German and vineyards ) is located in Ukraine a few kilometers east of the city of Lviv. Wynnyky has about 13,000 inhabitants.

Administratively, the city is part of the west in the city of Lviv.

History

The first documentary mention of the place comes from the year 1352nd The village received the Magdeburg rights.

1772 it was under Austrian rule ( in the Kingdom of Galicia and Lodomeria ) so Wynnyky was at the end of the 18th century a center of production of tobacco, this industry has remained until today the main source of income. In 1779 the Lviv tobacco factory (now Львовская табачная фабрика ) was founded in the town, which employed in the 19th century between 500 and 1,000 people. In the 1980s, about 14 billion cigarettes per year were produced in the factory. There was also an influx of German colonists, they called the place inspired by the Slavic name of vineyards. 1908 was the place with the construction of a railway station on the local train Lviv- Podhajce connection to the railway network, the route was, however, shut down again after the Second World War.

Attractions

Among the attractions of the city include the Founded in 1990, Museum of History and Regional Studies ( Историко - краеведческий музей г. Винники ). It has over 14,000 exhibits, the oldest are from the 14th century.
