Vytautas Miškinis

Vytautas Miškinis ( born June 5, 1954 in Vilnius) is a Lithuanian choir conductor and composer.

Life

Miškinis 1971-1976 studied choral conducting at the Lithuanian State Conservatory. 1975-1979 he headed the National Choir of Kaunas. 1971-1979 he was choir director and from 1979 also the artistic director of boys' and men's choir Ąžuoliukas in Vilnius, where he began his musical career as a seven year old. Since 1985 Miškinis teaches at the Lithuanian Music and Theatre Academy and is there since 2002 professor of choral conducting. He is also President of the Lithuanian Choral Union and since 1995 artistic director and first conductor of the Lithuanian choir songs festival.

As a composer, he created 14 masses, about 150 religious motets and litanies and some 350 secular songs - including many works for children's choirs. His works are now part of the repertoire of many choirs around the world.
