Vyzhnytsia Raion

Rajon Wyschnyzja (Ukrainian Вижницький район / rayon Wyschnyzkyj; Russian Вижницкий район / Wischnizki raion, Romanian Raionul Vijniţa ) is a raion ( administrative district) in the Chernivtsi Oblast, in western Ukraine.

The center of the Rajons is the city Wyschnyzja, in the north borders of Rajon to Rajon Snyatyn in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast, in the northeast on the Rajon Kizman, in the east and southeast by the Rajon Storoschynez, in the south on a short section of Romania, in the west which also lies on the Rajon Putyla and to the northwest by the Rajon Kosiv in the Ivano-Frankivsk Oblast.

The Rajon was built in 1940 after the occupation of Northern Bukovina to the Soviet Union as part of the Ukrainian SSR, more than 98 percent of the population in 2001 gave their nationality with Ukrainian on.

On 11 February 2005, until then the name Lukiwzi ( Луківці ) has been supporting village in Lukawzi renamed.
