W Racing Team
The W Racing Team ( or short- WRT) is a 2009 Belgian based motorsport team, which is active in several European Gran Turismo championships and also in the FIA GT1 World Championship (as Belgian Audi Club Team WRT) participated. The greatest motorsport success of the team is to win the 24- hour race at Spa -Francorchamps in 2011.
History
The W Racing Team was founded in September 2009 by the former head of Volkswagen Motorsport René Verbist, the racer Vincent Bosse and the entrepreneur Yves Weerts. Team leader is Pierre Dieudonne. WRT is the official Belgian Motorsport importer for Audi. This close connection to the Volkswagen Group, the team from the Belgian Audi Club and the Belgian Volkswagen Club is supported. WRT is an Audi R8 LMS GT3 specification and Volkswagen Scirocco GT24.
2010
In 2010, WRT continued his GT3 cars on a regular basis in the Belgian Belcar Endurance Championship and the French GT Championship Championnat de France FFSA GT. In addition, the team with three Audi R8 LMS at the 24 - hour race at Spa -Francorchamps start. In the Belcar Endurance Championship Gregory Franchi scored another victory with Anthony Kumpen two victories and the driver line- François Verbist, Bert Longin and Bill Bailly. Franchi and Kumpen won the drivers' standings of the championship, while the W Racing Team won the team classification was. The Volkswagen Scirocco GT24 were used in the Belgian Touring Car Series.
2011
WRT 2011 took regularly in the FIA GT3 European Championship, the Blancpain Endurance Series, the French GT Championship (GT Tour ) and the Belgian Belcar series part. The greatest success the team had in the Blancpain Endurance Series, with Greg Franchi as the drivers' standings of the professional category was won and WRT in this category also won the team classification. In addition, the team with Franchi and the two Audi factory drivers Timo Scheider and Mattias Ekström won the 24 - hour race at Spa-Francorchamps. With the driver pairings Bert Longin and Xavier Maassen and Enzo Ide and François Verbist WRT occupied the second and third in the driver standings Belcar series. 2012
In 2012, WRT set up two cars in the Blancpain Endurance Series. The team also represented the Audi brand in the FIA GT1 World Championship. Teammitbesitzer Yves Weerts graduated with Kurt Mollekens a guest appearance in the GT3 European Championship at the Circuito de Navarra.
