W. Allen Wallis

Wilson Allen Wallis ( born November 5, 1912 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, † October 12, 1998 in Rochester, New York) was an American economist and statistician. He attended the University of Minnesota and earned a bachelor's degree in 1932 in psychology. He was a member of the Chi Phi Fraternity.

Wallis was 1962-1970 president of the University of Rochester. He worked as an economic advisor to Presidents Dwight D. Eisenhower, Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan. Between 1982 and 1989 he held the office of Secretary of State for Economic and Agricultural Affairs ( Under Secretary of State for Economic, Business, and Agricultural Affairs ) and had it the third highest position in the State Department of the United States held.
