W. D. Valgardson

William Dempsey Valgardson ( born May 7, 1939 in Winnipeg, Manitoba ) is a Canadian writer, novels, short stories and poems written and has received two prestigious Canadian literary awards.

Life

The one who was born in Winnipeg, Manitoba William Dempsey Valgardson grew up in Gimli, Manitoba. Valgardson completed a bachelor's degree from United College, achieved a Bachelor of Education at the University of Manitoba and a Master of Fine Arts from the University of Iowa. For a long time he worked as a lecturer in creative writing at the University of Victoria in British Columbia.

His writing often focuses on the cultural differences within Canada and uses irony and symbolism as a design style means. His short stories make normal people is ind normal situations, but under certain circumstances they can lead to unusual and surprising life solutions.

WD Valgardson won various awards and honors. including the Books in Canada First Novel Award was for Gentle Sinners (1980 ) and belonging to the BC Book Prizes Ethel Wilson Fiction Prize for The Girl With the Botticelli Face ( 1992). His short story Bloodflowers was recorded in 1971 under the Best American Short Stories.
