Wa West District

The Wa West District in the northwest of Ghana is one of eight districts in the Upper West Region. It was created in 2004 through a spin-off from the Wa Municipal District.

Population

The largest ethnic groups in the district are Wali, Dagaare and Birifor. Main religions are Islam, Christianity and traditional religions. Fulbehirten move increasingly into the district.

None of the villages of Wa West exceeds the population of 2000 people.
