Wabaunsee County is a county located in the state of Kansas in the United States. The administrative headquarters ( County Seat) is Alma.

Geography

The County is located in the central north east of Kansas and has an area of ​​2071 square kilometers, of which six square kilometers of water surface. It is bordered clockwise to the following counties: Pottawatomie County, Shawnee County, Osage County, Lyon County, Morris County, Geary County and Riley County.

History

Wabaunsee County was formed in 1855 as Richardson County and one of the first 33 counties that were formed by the first territorial administration. In February 1859 it was renamed in Wabaunsee County, named after a chief of the Pottawatomie Indians.
