Waco Wizards

The Waco Wizards were an American ice hockey team from Waco, Texas. The team played from 1996 to 2000 in the Western Professional Hockey League.

History

The Waco Wizards were founded in 1996 as a franchise of the Western Professional Hockey League. In this they were one of the six founding members. After they were in the first two years of the weaker teams in the league, completed the Wizards in the 1998/99 season their most successful season. First, they won the WPHL Central Division, making it the first time reached the playoffs for the President's Cup. In the second playoff round, the Texans were subject to later finalists Shreveport Mudbugs in the best- of-three series with a sweep. Previously they had in the first playoff round because of first place in their division thanks to a free lot not compete.

Because of financial problems the Waco Wizards of the running game operating in the Western Professional Hockey League had to stop in the 1999/2000 season, after which the franchise was dissolved.
