The WAGO Contact GmbH & Co. KG is a German company and manufactures components for electrical connection technology and electronic components for decentralized automation technology. Particularly well known is the company through its connection socket terminals, especially of the series 273, also known as " WAGO terminal " or its successor 2273rd The Wago cage clamp has become a sort of industry standard. The principle is now used by several other suppliers.
The Company
WAGO has its headquarters in the Westphalian town of Minden in North Rhine -Westphalia. WAGO was founded in 1951 as a family business in Minden and long led by the sole power of representation shareholder of the WAGO group, Wolfgang Hohorst. The company's 9001 as IRIS certified according to ISO 14001 and ISO.
The company has approximately 5,800 employees, including about 3,000 in Germany, at the two sites Minden and special (Thuringia ). Manufacturing facilities of the WAGO group are located next to the headquarters in Minden, in special (Thuringia ), Domdidier ( Switzerland ), Noida (India), Tianjin (China ), Wroclaw (Poland ), Tokyo ( Japan ), Paris (France) and German Town ( USA).
WAGO worldwide includes 25 companies and free trade missions and generated worldwide consolidated sales of 570 million euros in production in 2012.
History
WAGO was founded on 27 April 1951 by Friedrich Hohorst and Heinrich Nagel GmbH WAGO terminal. This was preceded by the purchase of the first patent for a spring clip.
Due to lack of material qualities could terminals according to this principle initially not yet be made . The idea of screwless terminals, today rightly named after the action principle as a spring -loaded terminals, however, was born and now the spring clamp technology is a globally recognized industry standard.

WAGO Foundation

Because of its exemplary promotion of trainees, the current Foundation Chairman Wolfgang Hohorst on 8 November 2006, the Federal Cross of Merit received from the hands of the then Prime Minister of Thuringia, Dieter Althaus.
Cooperations
Since 2000 there has been cooperation between WAGO contact technique with the Bessel Gymnasium in Minden.
