Waheela

The Waheela is a supposed giant wolf in northern Canada and Alaska, whose existence has not previously been demonstrated. The Waheela is described as a large, wolf -like animal. He is supposed to be built taller and stronger than a wolf, and have disproportionately large feet. Front legs should be longer than the rear legs. In contrast to the Wolf Waheela should not occur in a pack. Legends of the natives designate the Waheela as a kind of evil spirit that kill people. If the legend ever a real background was attributed to it has been made in connection with copies of the subordination of prehistoric bear dogs, or with the Canis dirus, an extinct relative of modern day wolves from the Pleistocene.

This animal is probably identical with the Amarok, a giant wolf in Inuit mythology.
