Wahlbach (Haut-Rhin)

Election Bach is a commune with 498 inhabitants ( effective 1st January 2011), in the Alsace Haut -Rhin. It belongs to the district Mulhouse, on the Canton Sierentz and community association Pays de Sierentz.

Geography

The municipal election Bach is located approximately 15 kilometers south of Mulhouse and 20 kilometers northwest of Basel in the Pays de Sierentz in the valley of Walbaches which 6.41 km ² large municipality flows through the east-west direction. The village is located south of the creek.

Neighboring communities of choice are river stone Brunn -le-Haut in the north, Rantzwiller in the northeast, Zaessingue in the East Franks to the southeast, dog stream in the south, Hausgauen the southwest, Heiwiller in the west and Obermorschwiller in the northwest.

History

Archaeological finds show that the area was already inhabited in the Neolithic period. It is located on an ancient Celtic trade route linking Altkirch about Emlingen with Sierentz. Under the name Walpach or Wahlpach, which indicates that even after the migration of peoples has held a Gallo-Roman population, the village was first mentioned in 1265. She belonged to the French Revolution to the rule Altkirch in the county Pfirt.

Demographics

Election Bach recorded from the late 19th century until the 1970s a strong population decline. In the Peace of Frankfurt still 488 people lived in the community, in 1975 there were only 189 Since then reversed the trend. Culture and sights
