Wai?anae (Hawaii)

Waianae is the name of a mountain range, a town and a census-designated place in Honolulu on Oahu County in the U.S. state of Hawaii. Waianae has 10,789 inhabitants (as of 2007 ) in an area of 13.2 km ². The town lies at the mouth of the stream in the Kaupuni Pokai Bay. Is affected by the Waianae Hawaii State Route 93 ( Farrington Highway).

The place was the Oahu Railway and breakpoint Land Company.

Myth

A lizard goddess Pūhāwai lived according to legend, near a place called puha. After they had kidnapped the husband of one wife, he was brought back by the wind god Makanikeoe to this.
