It was connected via a spur road to the railway station road and was demolished in 1979 in preparation for the S-Bahn expansion.

The current station building, which was built on the site of its previous building was opened in 1980. The background was the commissioning of the S -Bahn lines S2 and S3 in 1981. Here, the direct access from the reception building was abandoned to the tracks and replaced by a Busumfahrung with stops for the city and regional bus services.
