Waidring

Waidring is a municipality with 1983 inhabitants (as of 1 January 2013 ) in Austria at the foot of the Lofer Steinberg mountains and the stone slab. The municipality is located in the judicial district of Kitzbühel.

Geography

The village in the district of Kitzbühel in Tyrol is located on the border with Bavaria and Salzburg, in Strubtal ( Loferbach / Haselbach ). In Waidring there is a Talwasserscheide, the valley continues ( Innerwald Bach) than forest to Erpfendorf.

Together with the municipalities of Fieberbrunn, Hochfilzen, St. Jakob in Haus and St. Ulrich am Pillersee part of the Tourism Association Pillerseetal.

History

1147 Waidring was first mentioned in documents as Wait herring. Around the year 1266/67 the brothers of the Archbishop of Salzburg Friedrich von Walchen bought goods in Waidring. The present parish church, which probably had two predecessors, was consecrated in 1764. Until the secularization in 1803 the lordship were at the Walchen from the Pinzgau. The land; Waidring since 1504 is one of Tirol.

During the fifth coalition war Waidring was sacked after the defeat of the Tiroler Pass Strub, on 11 and 12 May 1809 by Bavarian troops. Ecclesiastical Waidring belonged to the diocese of Chiemsee, until it came to the Archdiocese of Salzburg in 1817. In 1821 there were 108 homes in the municipality and for 1834 are 762 inhabitants occupied.

In May 1945, the National Socialist activist and journalist Julius Streicher was arrested following a complaint from the population by units of the U.S. Army in Waidring.

Coat of arms

In black three abgeledigte, downward-tapering red stages.

The coat of arms is derived from the seal of the nobles Otto von Walchen, which the village Waidring and the lower courts was one of the whole village. 1297 bought Conrad, Archbishop of Salzburg, the daughter of Otto of Walchen and whose consort of Freundsberg among others the land register to Waithering. The seal used for submission Otto of Walchen hang on two documents dated July 12, 1272 and Sept. 29, 1273, which are held in the Austrian State Archives.

Traffic

In Waidring the Lofer road (B 178), which is an important east -west connection of Austria as Kleines Deutsches Eck runs.

When underwater, the Pillerseestraße (L 2 ) branches over Ortisei - St. Jakob to Fieberbrunn (there will port Hochkönigstraße B 164).

A toll road leads to the stone slab.

Education

In Waidring there is an elementary school.
