Geography
The community lies in the Westerwald between Siegen and Limburg, about 2 km southwest of the Fuchskaute ( 657.3 m). The Breitenbach dam is located in the local area. East of the church rises the Homberg ( 635.3 m), west of the Zellgerberg ( 550.2 m).
Neighboring municipalities are Nister carrots village in the northwest, Homberg the east and Emmerichenhain in the south.
History
The place was first mentioned in documents as Wiganshen in 1346.
