The Waikaretaheke River is a river in New Zealand's Hawke's Bay region on New Zealand's North Island. He is the outflow of Lake Waikaremoana. The river flows from the south-east coast of the lake and flows to the southeast, 20 km north-west of Wairoa to open into the Waiau River. State Highway 38 follows a large part of the river.
