History

Wain was first mentioned in documents in 1259. In the 16th and 17th century was the place of the free imperial city of Ulm. see also Castle Wain

Religions

The Reformation was introduced in 1573 Wain. From 1650 to Protestant religious refugees were settled in place, they had been driven from their homes Carinthia and Styria. These exiles formed the main part of the local population. Today, there are next to the evangelical New Apostolic Church, a church in the village.

Coat of arms

The Wainer coat of arms was granted in 1967. The Luther Rose and those derived from the Austrian red-white- red striped shield colors indicate the Lutheran religious refugees who were expelled in the 17th century from Carinthia and Styria and have come to Wain. The rafter is the coat of arms of the lords of Wain removed.
