Wakendorf II

Wakendorf II is a municipality in the district of Segeberg in Schleswig-Holstein.

Name of the municipality

The term Wakendorf II was introduced in the Prussian era to distinguish the location of a 20 kilometers away another community called Wakendorf. It was a purely local policy decision without traditional historical importance.

A citizens' initiative attempted by a signature campaign to reach the renaming of the place in Wakendorf on the Alster. This request was considered by the municipal supervision of the circle as Segeberg not allowed because the formal guidelines as the date of birth of the writer is not listed, for example, in the signature lists.

The local council has decided to maintain the name Wakendorf II on 22 June 2006.

Geography and transport

Wakendorf II is between Henstedt -Ulzburg and Nahe. Secondary compounds in these places are also made roads to Tangstedt / Wilstedt and Kisdorferwohld. Wakendorf II located 20 km southwest of the partner community Wakendorf I.

By 1973 the village had a railway depot and a station on the route Elmshorn -Bad Oldesloe (EEO ). Today, the only public transport link is the bus route between Henstedt -Ulzburg and Bad Oldesloe.

Of the 13 seats in the municipal council voters Community WGW has since the local elections 2008 nine seats and the CDU four.

IT infrastructure

Wakendorf II has a new, ultramodern multimedia fiber optic network. The system is based fiber-optic lines to the houses, are operated via the Internet, television and telephone. The web speed is 50 Mbps (up / down synchronous) and can also be increased significantly if necessary. The fiber optic network is connected in parallel to existing structures, directly to the German backbone network.

This building was made possible by a merger of the municipal Wakendorf II with the company Sacoin GmbH, which together form the Wakendorf II - form our local network GmbH. At this the community is involved with 25.1%.
