Wakio Mitsui

Wakio Mitsui (Japanese三井 辨 雄, Mitsui Wakio; * November 24, 1942 in Sapporo, Hokkaidō ) is a Japanese politician of the Democratic Party ( Tarutoko group, ex- Ozawa group). He was until 2012 a member of the Shūgiin, the lower house of the national parliament for the constituency Hokkaidō 2 and social and labor cabinet minister Noda.

Mitsui graduated from the university in Setagaya Pharmacological Shōwa and founded in 1975 the Mitsui Yakuhin KK in Sapporo (not connected to the same large companies in Tokyo ), later the Kōyūkai, a " medical corporation " ( iryo Hojin ), which operates several hospitals and nursing facilities in Hokkaido.

In politics Mitsui came after the electoral reform in 1996 Shūgiin - elected: In the new Einmandatswahlkreis Hokkaidō 3, he ran for the New Progressive Party ( NFP ), but just going down to the Liberal Democrats Gaku Ishizaki and the Democrats Satoshi Arai. After the dissolution of the NFP, he joined the Democratic Party. At the 2000 election he ran Shūgiin only in proportional representation block Hokkaidō and moved for the first time in parliament. From 2010 to 2011 (cabinet Kan) was State Secretary at Mitsui Agriculture and Ministry of Transport. In October 2012 he was appointed Minister Yoshihiko Noda as social and labor minister in his reorganized cabinet. With around 50 million yen income Mitsui 2011 was one of the wealthiest members of the national parliament.

In the 2012 election Shūgiin Mitsui lost his constituency with 23.2 % of the vote again Takamori Ishikawa ( 35.0 %), thus falling short of a re-election by proportional representation block and retired from the parliament from.
