Wakker Prize

The Wakker Prize is one of the Swiss Heritage Society (SHS ) prize awarded, will be awarded with the political community in Switzerland for example townscape protection. The prize is awarded annually since 1972 and is endowed with CHF 20,000. It is named after the businessman Henri -Louis Wakker, who bequeathed the homeland security part of its assets.

At the beginning, especially communities were honored to make a special effort for the preservation of historically grown town centers and town centers. For the 100th anniversary of Swiss Heritage the price is not a political constituency, but the Swiss Federal Railways (SBB ) was awarded in 2005 in exceptional cases.

Criteria

Communities that received the Wakker Prize must meet the following criteria:

  • Visible, qualitative development and enhance the townscape among contemporary viewpoints
  • Respect for old residential structures and existing buildings,
  • Active commitment to superior architectural quality, the church must lead by example
  • Current local planning promotes development within the meaning of Wakkerpreises
  • The overall grade for addition or loss, based landscape and environment protection, sustainability, transport planning and housing quality
