Waldeck Plateau

The Waldecker panel also Waldecker tableland, is a natural space over main unit in Hesse between Eder and Diemel, Ostsauerländer the edge of the mountains to the west and the Ostwald Ecker rim sinks in the east.

The unit or the term " Waldecker Tafel" was created in the 1950s, because the decimal system of the biogeographic main units and their groups in the West Hesse Highlands (main unit group 34) had not been sufficient, since this group over 11 clear self-contained main units possessed. Under the code 340 is therefore summarized the open, coined by Zechstein and lower sandstone plateau of the Waldecker climes ( 3401 ) and the east adjoining densely wooded sandstone ridge of the Waldecker Forest ( 3402 ) together. Both partial landscapes are to be understood as an independent main units.

Nature regions

The Waldecker panel is structured as follows:

  • 340 Waldecker panel 3401 Waldecker climes 3401.0 The Red Country 3401.00 Obermarsberg Hochfläche
  • 3401.01 Red Undeveloped
  • 3401.10 Berndorfer reason
  • 3401.11 Korbacher level
  • 3401.12 Goddelsheimer field
  • 3401.13 Sachsenhäuser hills
  • 3402.2 Orpewald
  • 3402.3 Twister hills
  • 3402.4 Arolser plate
  • 3402.6 Ancient Forest

The Environmental Atlas of Hesse State Environment Ministry simplifies the notation, instead of by the subscript 1 in the Waldecker desert a 0 inserts the first decimal place and the Waldecker forest instead of the subscript 2 is a decimal -2. So would the Hereafter Langenwald the code 340.13 and the Sachsenhausen hill country the number 340 013. Disadvantage of this notation is that it is not clear that there are two main independent units.
