Waldemar Bloch

Waldemar Bloch ( born May 5, 1906 in Vienna, † 19 February 1984 in Graz) was an Austrian composer, pianist and music teacher.

About Settled soon from Vienna to Graz, he spent his school and university already in Styria. Composition studies, he ran among others, Roderich Mojsisovics of Mojsvár. First, as a pianist on tour, he served since 1945 as a teacher at the Styrian Provincial Conservatory, in a row since 1956 as professor of music theory at the Academy of Music, 1963 Academy of Music in Graz. He has been honored several times, including in 1957 with the State Prize for music.

When his most famous pupil Franz Koringer, Karl Haidmayer, Viktor Fortin, Johann Täubl, Peter Vujica and Hermann Markus Preßl apply.

The compositional works Waldemar Bloch includes incidental music, many vocal compositions, including several trade fairs and numerous choirs as well as the scenic cantata " Orpheus " (1955); also instrumental works, piano, chamber music and numerous organ works as well as compositions for the accordion. In addition, he has written music-theoretical writings.
