Waldemar de Brito

Waldemar de Brito ( born May 17, 1913 † 21 February 1979) was a Brazilian football player who played for several clubs in Brazil and Argentina, as well as for the Brazilian national team. He is considered the discoverer of the football legend Pele. He played on the position of the striker.

Vereinskarrierie

De Brito began his career at FC São Paulo. There he was in 1933 with 21 goals scorer Torneio Rio - São Paulo. Later he played for San Lorenzo de Almagro in Argentina until 1936 he returned to Brazil to Flamengo Rio de Janeiro where he moved in 1939 won the state championship in Rio de Janeiro. In 1943 he went back to São Paulo to Associação Portuguesa Santista Atlética, where he ended his career in 1945.

National

He played 18 international matches for Brazil, scoring 18 goals. In 1934 he took part with Brazil in the World Cup.

After the active career

After his resignation was Waldemar de Brito talent scout from Bauru Atlético Clube. In the 1950s, he discovered a child Edson Arantes do Nascimento name, now better known as Pele. He brought Pelé to Santos and prophesied that he would be a time of the best footballers in the world.
