Waldemar Lindgren

Waldemar Lindgren ( born February 14, 1860 in Kalmar, Sweden, † November 3, 1939 in Boston, Massachusetts ) was a Swedish- American geologist. He attended the Mining Academy Freiberg 1878-1882, where he made his degree in mining engineer. In 1884, he began its 31 -year career with the United States Geological Survey (USGS ). There he worked in the exploration of mineral deposits in the Rocky Mountains. In 1905 he co-founded the Journal of the Society of Economic Geologists. In 1912 he was appointed head of the Geology Department at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
