Waldemar, Lord of Rostock

Waldemar, Lord of Rostock ( * before 1241, † November 9, 1282 ) was from 1278 to 1282 only lord to Rostock.

He was the second son of Henry III Borwin. and his wife Sophie of Sweden ( † before June 24, 1241 ), daughter of King Erich X.. His eldest brother John died before his father, so that Waldemar after the death of his father in 1278 was the sole ruler. He died on November 9, 1282 ( possible, but unlikely is also the 10th November). According to sources, he became blind before and told his government with his sons. He was buried in the Doberan Minster. His sons Nicholas, ( Heinrich) Borwin and Johann ruled until 1284 under regency of his mother. His youngest son, Nicholas is known since 1286 as sole ruler. He was with Agnes, a daughter of Count John I of Holstein - Kiel, married.
