Waldemar Pawlak

Waldemar Pawlak ( born September 5, 1959 in Model, Masovian Voivodeship today ) is a Polish politician. It was 1992, and from 1993 to 1995 and Deputy Prime Minister of Poland between November 2007 and November 2012 Prime Minister and Minister of Economy.

Political career

From 1984 Pawlak was a member of the ZSL (United Peasant Party ), which has passed in 1990 in the PSL. Continuously since the general election in 1989, he has been a deputy seat in the Sejm. In 1991 he was elected party chairman of the PSL. With a degree in agricultural mechanics is the Chairman of the Association of Voluntary Fire Brigade of the Polish Republic.

He was appointed by President Lech Wałęsa as prime minister in 1992, but could not form a functioning government. From 1993 to 1995 he led a coalition government as Prime Minister of PSL and SLD.

In 1995, mainly at the instigation of the Polish President Lech Walesa to replace Pawlaks as Prime Minister: Wałęsa had the government repeatedly criticized for not energetic enough to accelerate the economic reforms and finally threatened with the dissolution of the Sejm, if the government did not resign. Pawlak belonged to continue as a Member of the PSL to the Sejm, and was until 1997 and again since 2005 chairman of the party.

Since 16 November 2007 he was a member as Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy of Poland's new government coalition of PO and PSL.

1995 and 2010 ran Waldemar Pawlak in the Polish presidential election.

After Pawlak was deselected as party chairman on 17 November 2012 and Janusz Piechociński subject, he declared on November 19, 2012 his resignation from the office of Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Economy and was dismissed from office on the same day by the Prime Minister Donald Tusk.

Private
