Waldemar Schreckenberger

Waldemar Schreckenberger ( born November 12, 1929 in Ludwigshafen, Germany) is a German jurist, professor and politician ( CDU).

Life and career

After graduation Schreckenberger studied law, history and philosophy at the universities of Mainz and Heidelberg. He passed both state, received his doctorate in 1959 with the work of legality and morality of Doctor iuris utriusque and one year later entered into the public service. In 1976 his post-doctoral work with Rhetorical semiotics. Subsequently, he was admitted as a full professor at the University of Mainz. Since 1978 he has lectured in the fields of philosophy of law, legal policy and law teaching at the German University of Administrative Sciences in Speyer. His research focused on the legal-philosophical basic research, in particular rhetorical semiotics and legislative policy and doctrine. In 1998 he became Professor Emeritus. Since 2001 he has practiced as a lawyer in Heidelberg.

In addition to his academic work Schreckenberger was 1974-1994 Vice- President of the German Section of the International Association of Legal and Social Philosophy. He was also from 1978 to 1982 Chairman of the Commission for determining the financial needs of broadcasters.

Policy

Schreckenberger joined the CDU and served from 1976 to 1981 under Prime Minister Bernhard Vogel as Secretary of State ( Head of the State ) of Rhineland- Palatinate. 12 June 1981 to 5 October 1982, he headed the Rhineland-Palatinate Ministry of Justice. From 1982 to 1989 he was Permanent State Secretary at the Federal Chancellor Helmut Kohl ( also called the public " Schrecki " his school friend ). As such, he was from 1982 to 1984 Head of the Federal Chancellery.
