Waldhouse

Forest House ( German Waldhausen ) is a commune with 390 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ) in the department of Moselle in the Lorraine region in the northern Vosges.

Geography

Forest House is located in the extreme north of Lorraine, a few kilometers south of the border to the Palatinate, on both sides of the horn brook which forms a wide arc here. On Waldhouser district flows from the right Trualbe in Hornbach one.

History

Gallo - Roman remains bear witness to a very early settlement. Waldhusse was first mentioned in 1257. The place belonged from the beginning to Zweibrücken - Bitsch.

Ecclesiastical Forest House was always assigned Walschbronn.

From 1790 to 1801 Forest House belonged to the politically defunct Canton Breidenbach, since the canton Volmunster.

The Annexe Dorst was founded in the early 18th century by Mennonites, who had enlisted the rule of Zweibrücken- Bitsch in Switzerland. The Mennonites were at that time located in different areas southwest German because of their knowledge in agriculture.
