Geography

Geographical Location

Waldsolms located in the eastern Hintertaunus, in Taunus Nature Park between Wetzlar and Usingen.

The southernmost Punkt50.395128.4962 of the Lahn -Dill -Kreis located on the border to the municipality Gravenwiesbach.

Neighboring communities

Waldsolms bordered to the north by the town of Braunfels and the community Schöffengrund (both in the Lahn -Dill -Kreis), in the east on the community Langgoens ( Gießen district ), in the southeast of the city of Butzbach ( Wetterau ), in the south on the community Gravenwiesbach ( Hochtaunuskreis ) and in the west on the community Weilmunster ( Limburg- Weilburg ).

Structure

The municipality consists of the villages Brandoberndorf ( council offices ), Griedelbach, Hasselborn, power Solms, Kröffelbach and Weiperfelden.

History

As part of the municipal reform in Hesse, the formerly independent communities Brandobernorf, Griedelbach, Hasselborn, power Solms, Kröffelbach and Weiperfelden joined voluntarily on 31 December 1971 on the new overall community Waldsolms together.

Attractions

Structures

In the district Kröffelbach is the Coptic monastery of St. Anthony. It has a church with a bell tower, both of which were modeled after Coptic churches in Egypt. The monastery is the most important Coptic center in Europe and at the same time an interdenominational Begegnungsstätte.Sehenswert is also listed Evangelical Church Brandoberndorf

Economy and infrastructure

Traffic

Brandoberndorf since 2000 endpoint operated by the Hessian Bahn GmbH as RMV line 15 Taunusbahn of Frankfurt (Main ) Hauptbahnhof. Another breakpoint on the Taunusbahn consists in the district Hasselborn. From 1912 to 1985 here rode the roller coaster from Wetzlar to Solms Gravenwiesbach, which has now been dismantled direction Wetzlar.

Education

Lotte Eckert school: Primary school in Brandoberndorf. Secondary schools are located in Braunfels, Wetzlar and Usingen.
