History
History was Waldthurn the Bohemian family of Lobkowicz. They sold the rich rule in 1806 to the Kingdom of Bavaria. Many of the historic buildings were the big fire on October 5, 1865 lost.
Incorporations
On January 1, 1972, the formerly independent communities Lenne Rieth and Spielberg, as well as parts of the territory of the dissolved municipality Bern Rieth were incorporated.

In the market council 4 groups are currently represented. The CSU is represented with 7 seats, the Free Voters 3, the CSU offshoot CWU with 2 seats and the SPD 2
Coat of arms
Blazon: Shared by blue and silver; up next to each other connected by walls three silver towers battlements, down three standing on a low green hills green deciduous trees.
The coat of arms has been known since 1649.
