Wales Coast Path

The Wales Coast Path (Welsh Llwybr Arfordir Cymru and occasionally All Wales Coast Path ) is an approximately 1400 km (870 mi) long distance footpath which follows the River Dee at Queensferry in North Wales to Chepstow in the south coast of Wales.

The long distance footpath is the first and longest continuous footpath along the entire coastline of a country and was created by the combination of different pre-existing shorter hiking trails between 2007 and 2011 and officially opened on 5 May 2012.

The long distance path touches a number of areas which have been identified as areas of national, importance of the Welsh Assembly Government, to include the Snowdonia National Park and Pembrokeshire Coast, and the Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty Anglesey, Pen Llŷn and Gower.

There is a connection to the Offa 's Dyke Path, which allows a complete circumnavigation of Wales on a 1660 km ( 1030 miles ) long hike.
