Walferdange

Walferdingen ( Luxembourgish Walfer, French Walferdange ) is a municipality in the Grand Duchy of Luxembourg, in the canton of Luxembourg.

Composition of the community

The municipality consists of the villages Walferdingen:

  • Bereldange ( Lux Bäreldeng )
  • Helm singing ( Lux Helsem )
  • Walferdingen

Location

Walferdingen lies just north of the urban area of the City of Luxembourg in the Alzette valley; the villages Walferdingen and helmet are singing right of the river, Bereldange on the left.

Historical heritage

Castle

The Walferdange Castle (Château Walferdange ) was assigned to the Grand Duke Adolf addition to the city residence by the Constitution as a residence. As a dedicated winemakers here he let his guests are happy to serve a fine wine from our own production. Later, the assignment was changed in favor of the castle hill. Currently, this former residential palace houses the Faculty of Linguistics and Literature, Humanities, Arts and Education, University of Luxembourg.
