Walhausen

Walhausen is a municipality in the district Cochem-Zell, in Rhineland -Palatinate. It belongs to the municipality of Zell an (Mosel).

Geography

Walhausen located seven kilometers east of the town of Zell (Mosel ) at the upper end of a Kerbtals, which is drained by the Biemesbach. The village comprises altitudes between 430 m above sea level. Sea level and 460 m above sea level. NN and extends on a sloping from north to south grounds. Geographically, can the roughly equally forested and agricultural municipality almost entirely to the Grendericher Riedelland: assign (also Long Kamper plateau ) in the Moselle Hunsrück, but is already at the transition to the exterior of the Hunsrück plateau to the east then. History

1475 a good is mentioned in a document, which was in Waldenhuysen and Schuren and had been sold by Friedrich von Pyrmont to Frederick Zandt of Merl. Beginning in 1794, Walhausen under French rule and was from 1798 to 1814 in the canton of cell in the Rhine -Moselle department. 1815 it to the Congress of Vienna was assigned to the Kingdom of Prussia. By the year 1839, places Walhausen and Schauren formed a community. The chapel located in the village center was 1923/24, removed and a new church built in 1932 in honor of the Mother of God. Since 1946 it has been part of Rhineland- Palatinate then newly founded. By the Eighth Administrative Simplification Act of July 18, 1970 with effect from November 7, 1970 the place came to the municipality of Zell.

Parish council

The local council in Walhausen consists of six council members, who were elected at the municipal election held on 7 June 2009 by majority vote, and the honorary mayor as chairman.

Traffic

Walhausen is in the transport association Rhein-Mosel. Bus number 722 connects the village during the week to the next town, Zell ( Mosel), and the nearest train station, Bullay (DB) on the Mosel route Trier -Koblenz.
