Walheim (Haut-Rhin)

Walheim is a commune with 944 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2011 ), in the Alsace Haut -Rhin. It belongs to the district Altkirch, Altkirch the canton and the existing community association since 2001 Secteur d' illfurth.

Geography

Walheim the Sundgau located 20 kilometers south of Mulhouse and four kilometers northeast of Altkirch both sides of the river Ill at an average altitude of 273 m above sea level.

Neighboring communities of Walheim are Tagolsheim in the north, Luemschwiller in the northeast, Emlingen the southeast, Witter village in the south, southwest, and Unteraspach Altkirch in the west.

Personalities

  • Jean -Thiebaut Pflieger was lieutenant colonel of the Grande Armée under Emperor Napoleon I. From 1829 to 1832 he was mayor and administrator of Walheim.
