Walid Badir

Walid Badir ( born March 12, 1974 in Kafr Kasm ) is an Israeli football player and member of the Arab minority. He currently plays for Hapoel Tel Aviv in the Ligat ha Al, the highest Israeli league.

Career

Badir began his career in 1987 at Hapoel Kafr Kasm, his hometown club. In 1990 he was engaged by Hapoel Petah Tikva and played two years in the youth team before he was brought into the first team in 1992. In the first season with the club midfielder of the eleventh and thus was second last. After a seventh in 1994, fifth in 1995 and eighth in 1996 place Badir was in 1996/97 to celebrate the club to the runner-up title. 1997/98 it was still at least fifth. In his last season in Petah Tikva could still be achieved sixth place.

1999 and then moved abroad and Badir went to England in the Premier League for FC Wimbledon. After 21 games and a goal is scored ( against Manchester United) with the Israeli Wimbledon from the English top flight with space had to descend 18, three points behind a non- relegation zone.

In the following season, he returned to Israel and signed a contract with Maccabi Haifa. There Badir won four league titles and a Super Cup in five seasons played at Maccabi, in the season 2002/ 03 they were also runners-up and 2001/ 02 it was the cup final. Next he took with Maccabi in the 2002/03 season of the UEFA Champions League. The club came against Manchester United, Olympiakos and Bayer 04 Leverkusen at. The Israeli played in all games and scored in the final group game against Olympiakos 1-0 in the 3-3 draw in Athens. The Greens dropped out in the group stage.

Beginning of the 2005/06 season, the midfielder moved to Hapoel Tel Aviv. In his first season one was behind his Exklub Maccabi Haifa runner-up and won the cup final against Bnei Yehuda Tel Aviv 1-0. In the next season, winning the cup could be repeated, but was only fourth in the championship. After fifth in 2007/ 08 one was at the end of the 2008/09 season again runner-up.

International Badir been played 74 times for Israel and scored twelve goals. So far he was able to qualify the team for no finals.
