Walid Muallem

Walid al - Moallem (Arabic وليد المعلم, DMG Waleed al -Mu ʿ Allim, born 1941 in Damascus ) is Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Syrian Arab Republic.

Al - Moallem attended from 1948 to 1960, the school, and graduated from the High School. In Cairo he studied economics and graduated in 1963 with a Bachelors degree. 1964 began working for the Syrian Foreign Ministry. He belonged to the diplomatic corps in different countries.

From 1975 to 1980, al - Moallem Syrian ambassador to Romania, from 1990 to 1999 in the United States. During this time, al - Moallem took part in the peace negotiations between Syria and Israel. In 2000 he became assistant to the Syrian Foreign Minister, in 2005 his deputy. On 11 February 2006 him President Bashar al -Assad appointed foreign minister.

Al - Moallem is married and has three children.
